Recess Time!
If you were outside at recess without a watch, how could you find out how much longer you have to play… WITHOUT asking your teacher?

Posted November 19, 2008, 8:05 amYou could estimate by thinking about how much time you have spent doing something . For example if you are playing soccer you could think if you have been playing for 15 minutes and you have 30 minutes you would be estimating. So basically you just have to estimate.
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:06 amif i was outside and i didnt no wat time it was, i would make a sun clock. that is a clock made by these steps: first, draw a circle with a stick. place the stick in the middle and whatever way is north is where the 12 would be. draw 1, 2, 3, and so on. wherever the shadow of the stick lands is what time it is.
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:07 amYou can look at the sun, it can tell you about what time it is. If the sun is more towards the west then it will still be morning. If it is over your head then it is noon. If it is more to the east then it is most likely to be at night. But if there is no sun then you are out of luck!
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:09 amYou could put a stick in the ground and let the sun create a shadow then you can see the hand on a clock so then you know what time it is. Just like a sundial!!!!!
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:10 amHaHaHa baylee love it!!!!
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:12 amYou could use the sun and see where it is if you know how to use the sun as a clock.
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:13 amAlso, you could wait for the bell to ring and then you would know what time to go inside.
You can look at the sun the time you get outside and then check the sun to see if it has moved. Also you can see when the kids leave from P.E. because they enter P.E. when we enter recess.
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:15 amWell you could look at the sky to see what time it was. Because the sky has a color for each different time of the day.
Posted November 19, 2008, 8:17 amyou can figure out what time it is because you go out to recess at 1:15 and you can either cout to 60 until you get to the minutes or you can wait until the bell rings and when it does you know it is 1:40 so you can either count to 60 over and over until recess ends or wait until the bell rings.
Posted November 19, 2008, 9:05 amyou can figure out what time it is because you go out to recess at 1:15 and you can either cout to 60 until you get to the minutes or you can wait until the bell rings and when it does you know it is 1:40 so you can either count to 60 over and over until recess ends or wait until the bell rings.

Posted November 19, 2008, 9:13 amTyler, good thinking about the water evaporating! I bet Mrs. Messick would love your science connection! Nick, I like your idea about relating recess time to other classes’ gym times.
