Percents in your mind




How can you use mental math with fractions, percents, and decimals?  Or, how can you use mental math to find percentages of a number?  Explain and give one example.

Exponents




Exponents are a brand-new concept for us.  You’re really going to have to think of multiplication in a new way.  Pretend that I don’t know anything about exponents.  Explain to me why I get a much larger product when I solve 4 to the 3rd power than when I solve 4 X 3.  Use math words such as exponent, base, and power.
